Emotional Personal and Social
Development
Through day-to-day support, attention from staff and
the welcoming, emotionally secure environment -
Your child will be cared for, nurtured and encouraged
to become independent and confident. Your child
will be allocated a key-worker who will work in
partnership with you, the parent, in the best interest
of your child’s emotional well - being. Imaginary
play areas develop co-operation skills as well as
developing knowledge & understanding of the world.
These include hospital, café, vets, home corner, travel
agents.
Communication and Language
Development
Our library area encourages a love for books, reading
and listening to stories. Our library service enables
children to take books home to share with the rest of
the family. Stories, poetry, audio, listening centres
and computers develop a love of reading, talking and
listening. Strong bonds between child and staff
encourage your child to share his/her news
developing conversational skills. The writing table
will provide early communication skills through
drawing, mark making and letter recognition and
formation
Expressive and Aesthetic
development
Your child will be able to enjoy a wide and varied
selection of activities to assist their development in
this curricular area here they can create drawings,
paintings, models, collage and printing. Sand, water
& natural play are used to introduce early science
activities, and develop learning, as well as being just
great fun. Dough, clay and plastercine encourage
motor skills and creativity.
Within music your child can develop and create their
own musical compositions and songs, they can
expand on their knowledge of classic songs and learn
new songs. They can discover and develop how to
play musical instruments, learn about rhythm
through clapping and playing instruments and
experimenting with sounds from all around the
world.
Knowledge & Understanding of the world
Through various activities we will develop childrens
sense of the world, their place in it and how that the
decisions they make affect the environment. Your
child will have the chance to participate in early
science and experience basic science skills through
experiments and learning of things we use everyday.
The nursery has a range of computer packages to
enhance learning in all areas of the curriculum.
The children are able to use digital cameras, &
recorders, operate electronic games, and learn about
everyday technology in the world around them.
Projects are set up i.e. planting seeds, and watching
their development, observing wildlife and growing
flowers and vegetables. Through cookery activities
your child will have the chance to learn about how
food is grown, how it’s cooked and about food from
other countries and cultures. Many new skills are
learnt such as measuring, pouring, mixing, kneading,
slicing and spreading.
Physical Development
With an expansive garden and range of materials your
child will be encouraged and stimulated to achieve
new tasks in action, balance, and co-ordination.
Whilst exercising and dancing to music, participating
in action songs and games using the Parachute they
have the chance to try a variety of physical activities
encouraging health and well being.
The children are encouraged to take part in a variety
of sports. They are given the opportunity to learn
new skills. Some of these
include hockey, tennis,
badminton, cricket
and football. Team
games and races
are encouraged
to develop
co-operation
skills
